Tips for Getting Started
Quick Entry
You don't have to fill in every field right away. Add your goats with just names and breed first, then go back and fill in details over time. The app saves everything as you go.
Importing from a Spreadsheet
If you have goat records in a spreadsheet (CSV or Excel), you can bulk-import them. Go to Settings → Import Data and use the smart importer. See Importing Data for details.
Setting Up Parentage
When adding a goat, you can select a Sire and Dam from:
- Your herd — Any goat already in your records
- External parent — Enter the name, farm, and registration for a goat not in your herd
- Global search — Find goats from other farms on Herd Manager
Setting up parentage enables the Pedigree view and Inbreeding Coefficient (COI) calculations.
After Adding Your Goats
Once your goats are in, explore these next:
- Tap any goat to see their full profile with tabs for health, milk, breeding, and more
- Start logging milk records if you have dairy does
- Record breeding events for your breeding program
