Offline Mode & Data Sync
Barns are where signal goes to die, and that's exactly where you need to record things. Herd Manager is built for it.
How It Works
- Everything saves to your device first, instantly — which is why the app is quick and why no connection is required
- Changes push to the cloud automatically when you're online. You don't have to remember to
- Other devices pick them up when they load — on sign-in, refresh, or manual sync
The push is automatic. The pull isn't live: a laptop tab that's been open since this morning won't show what you logged in the barn until it refreshes.
Working Offline
Add goats, log milk, record health events, take weights, note a kidding — all of it works with no connection. Changes queue up and go when you're back in range.

Multiple Devices
- Sign in with the same account on each
- Sync on the device you've been using before switching
- The other device pulls the latest when it loads or syncs
If both make changes while offline, the later write wins when they reconnect. Sync before you switch devices, and avoid editing the same animal from two places in one session.
Is Cloud Sync a Backup?
Partly. Your synced data does live in the cloud, and reinstalling or switching devices restores it.
But it isn't a backup in the sense that matters — it mirrors your current state, including mistakes. A bulk edit that goes wrong syncs the damage. For real protection, export a full backup before anything consequential: a large import, a reset, or a device change.
If anything hasn't pushed yet, clearing local storage is the one action that can actually lose it. Export first, always.
