Offline Mode & Data Sync
Herd Manager works fully offline. Record data in the barn, in the pasture, or anywhere without cell service — it all syncs when you're back online.
How It Works
All your data is stored locally on your device first. When you have internet, the app syncs your data to the cloud automatically. This means:
- No internet? No problem. Add goats, log milk, record health events — everything works.
- Automatic sync — When you reconnect, your data uploads automatically.
- Manual sync — Tap the ☁️ Sync button in the header anytime to force a sync.
Sync Status
The Sync button in the header shows your current status:
- ☁️ Sync — Ready to sync or already synced
- Tap it to manually push all local changes to the cloud
Multiple Devices
If you use Herd Manager on more than one device (e.g., phone in the barn, computer in the house):
- Sign in with the same account on both devices
- Sync on the first device before switching to the second
- The second device will pull the latest data when it syncs
caution
If you make changes on two devices while both are offline, the most recent change wins when they sync. To avoid conflicts, sync frequently and try to avoid editing the same goat on two devices simultaneously.
Data Backup
Your cloud-synced data serves as your backup. You can also export your data at any time:
- Go to Settings → Export Data to download a backup of all your records
