Messaging
Messaging lets you talk to other Herd Manager users about listings, stud services, and pedigrees — without publishing your phone number or email.
Where: 💬 Messages in the Community area
Starting a Conversation
Message from a listing, a stud service, or a farm profile. The conversation stays attached to whatever it started from, so context is there when you come back to it a week later.
Unread Counts
Unread conversations are badged so an inquiry doesn't sit unnoticed. In a marketplace, response time is most of your reputation — a buyer who doesn't hear back in a day usually buys elsewhere.
Privacy
Your contact details are only shared if you choose to share them, either in a message or by enabling public contact info in your privacy settings. Messaging works without either.
Blocking
Users can be blocked. A blocked user's farm and listings stop appearing for you, and they can't start new conversations.
Messages are for conversation. Once a sale is agreed, record it properly — the buyer in Contacts, the terms in the sale record, the animal via Sell/Transfer. A thread is a bad place to keep the only copy of an agreement.
