Illness Episodes
When a goat is sick, the information arrives scattered: a temperature Tuesday morning, a treatment Tuesday night, another temperature Wednesday, a vet call Thursday. An episode is the container that holds it together.
Starting an Episode
From the goat's health records, open an illness episode with the suspected condition and severity.
The condition list covers what actually turns up in a goat barn:

Unknown is a legitimate choice. Start the episode when you notice something wrong, not once you've worked out what it is — the early observations are the ones you'll want later.
What Attaches to an Episode
- Temperature readings, timestamped — with normal ranges shown so you can see whether she's trending the right way
- Treatments and medications, including any withdrawal periods they start
- Notes as things develop
- Vet visits
Because everything is linked, "what did we do for her, and when" is one screen rather than a reconstruction.
Resolving
Close the episode when she's better. It stays on her record with its duration and outcome.
That history matters more than it seems. A doe with three respiratory episodes in two winters is telling you something about her, your ventilation, or both — and that pattern is invisible if each one was just a loose collection of health records.
A single reading is a data point; three across a day is a trend. Normal for an adult goat sits around 101.5–103.5°F, but individual and ambient variation is real — which is why the app shows the reading against the range rather than just flagging a number.
When It's Serious
Episodes are for recording, not diagnosing. Pregnancy toxaemia, urinary calculi, bloat, and severe pneumonia all move fast enough that a phone call beats another temperature reading. Keep emergency info filled in.
