Milk Quality Tests

Tracking milk quality helps you maintain udder health and produce the best possible product.

Recording Quality Tests​

Go to a doe's profile → Milk tab → Add Quality Test. Enter butterfat %, protein %, SCC, and any other metrics.

Key Metrics​

  • Butterfat % — Higher is better for cheese making
  • Protein % — Important for cheese yield
  • Somatic Cell Count (SCC) — Low indicates healthy udders; rising SCC is an early warning of mastitis
  • Lactose % — Sugar content
Watch SCC Trends

A sudden spike in SCC often indicates the beginning of a mastitis infection. Monitor closely and consult your vet if SCC rises.
