Lactation Curves & Charts
Visual charts help you understand production patterns and compare performance.
Lactation Curve
Shows daily milk production plotted over days in milk (DIM). A typical curve shows rapid increase from freshening to peak (4-8 weeks), then gradual decline through the rest of the lactation.
Comparison Charts
Compare production across multiple lactations for the same doe, multiple does in the same time period, or rolling averages (7-day, 30-day).
What the Charts Tell You
- Early peak, fast decline — May indicate nutritional deficiency or health issue
- Steady production — Sign of good management and genetics
- Year-over-year improvement — Your breeding program is working
- Sudden drop — Check for mastitis, illness, or feed changes
