Lactation Periods

A lactation period represents one continuous milking cycle from freshening to dry-off.

Starting a Lactation​

  1. Open the doe's profile → Milk tab
  2. Tap Start Lactation
  3. Enter the start date (usually the kidding date)

All milk records logged after this date are associated with this lactation.

Ending a Lactation​

When you dry off a doe, go to her profile → Milk tab → End Lactation and enter the end date. The app calculates total production, days in milk, peak production, and average daily production.

Comparing Lactations​

Compare a doe's lactations side by side to see if production is improving or declining year over year. This data is valuable for culling decisions and breeding selections.
