Browsers & Devices
Herd Manager runs in your browser — there's nothing to download to use it. It works on phones, tablets, and desktops, and the same records appear everywhere you sign in.
Supported Browsers
Any current browser works: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge, on desktop and mobile. Keeping your browser reasonably up to date matters more than which one you pick.
An Android app is also available on Google Play if you'd rather launch from an icon.
Installing to Your Home Screen
On phones and tablets you can add Herd Manager to your home screen so it opens full-screen like an app:
- iOS/Safari — Share → Add to Home Screen
- Android/Chrome — the browser menu → Install app / Add to Home Screen
Same app, same data, just a faster way in.
Offline Use
Once loaded on a device, Herd Manager works without signal. Record milk, health events, and weights in the barn or the pasture; everything syncs when you're back in range.
Offline works per device — a phone that's never opened the app has nothing cached.
Features That Need Permission
Some things ask the browser for access, and any browser can refuse:
| Feature | Needs |
|---|---|
| Photos | Camera or photo library access |
| Voice notes | Microphone (Chrome or Safari recommended) |
| Push notifications | Notification permission, granted per device |
| Printing / PDFs | Pop-ups allowed for the site |
If Something Looks Wrong
- Refresh the page. Most display oddities are a stale view.
- Check you're online if data seems missing — it may be waiting to sync.
- Confirm you're signed in on the right account.
- Allow pop-ups if a print or PDF button does nothing.
- Try another browser to tell an app problem from a browser problem.
Still wrong? Use 💬 Feedback in the header. Bug reports can include a screenshot, and the app attaches your current page, device, and browser automatically — which is usually what makes a bug reproducible.
