Notifications

Herd Manager can notify you about things that need attention — a doe due to kid, a medication dose today, a withdrawal period ending.

Push Is Off Until You Turn It On

Nothing pushes to your device until you explicitly opt in. When you enable it, your browser or phone asks permission separately — both have to say yes.

The app still shows alerts in-app regardless. Push just means they reach you when the app is closed.

Categories

Alerts are grouped by category, each independently set to push or off. Some are on by default because they're time-critical:

On by default

  • Kidding Due and Kidding Overdue
  • Medication Due Today
  • Vaccinations Overdue
  • Withdrawal Period Ending
  • Critical FAMACHA Score
  • Subscription & Billing

Off by default — turn on what's useful to you

  • Tasks Due, Routine Reminders
  • Supply Running Low
  • M. ovi Test Due
  • Lactation Milestones, Milk Production Drop
  • Goat Birthdays
  • Weather Alerts
  • Marketplace activity — Listing Favorited, Community Pedigree Match
  • Daily Morning Summary, Weekly Summary

Quiet Hours

On by default, 9pm to 7am. Notifications hold until quiet hours end rather than waking you.

One deliberate exception: a doe due to kid within about six hours overrides quiet hours. That's the one you'd want to be woken for, and it can be turned off if you disagree.

Digests

Instead of individual alerts, you can get a Daily Morning Summary or Weekly Summary rolling everything into one. Both are off by default.

Daily defaults to 7am, weekly to Monday at 8am — both adjustable.

Frequency Limits

There's a cap on how many notifications arrive per hour and per day, so a bulk action never produces a burst of alerts. It isn't user-adjustable; it exists so the app can't become the thing you mute.

If notifications aren't arriving

Check three places: the master toggle here, your browser or phone's permission for the site, and quiet hours. Push also needs the app to have been opened at least once on that device.
