Archiving & Restoring Goats

Archiving lets you hide goats from your main herd view without deleting any records.

When to Archive

  • Goats that have been sold or passed away (you can also use Sold/Deceased status instead)
  • Reference animals you only need for pedigree data
  • Old records you want to keep but not see daily

How to Archive

  1. Open the goat's profile
  2. Tap Edit
  3. Change the Status to Archived
  4. Save

The goat disappears from your main Herd list but all records are preserved.

Restoring an Archived Goat

  1. In the Herd tab, change the status filter to show Archived or All
  2. Find the goat and open their profile
  3. Tap Edit
  4. Change the status back to Active (or any other status)
  5. Save

Deleting vs Archiving

Archiving is reversible — the goat and all its records are preserved. Use archiving unless you're absolutely sure you want to permanently remove a goat.

Deleting is Permanent

If you delete a goat, all associated records (health, milk, breeding, etc.) are also deleted and cannot be recovered. Always prefer archiving over deleting.
