Kidding Checklists
Kidding rarely happens at a convenient hour, and the things you need are the things you won't think of at 3am. The checklists cover three phases.
Before
Supplies gathered and the kidding area set up while you're still sleeping normally. Herd Manager's kidding season timeline covers the month-by-month version; the checklist is the final pass.
During
Stages of labor, what normal progress looks like, and — the important part — when to intervene versus when to leave her alone.
Most kiddings need no help. Knowing which ones do is the skill, and the birthing positions guide is worth reading before you need it, not during.
A malpresentation you can't resolve is a time-critical problem. The emergency info screen exists for exactly this — fill it in in advance, including the after-hours number.
After
Dam care and recovery, and the first 24 hours for kids: colostrum, navel treatment, warmth, and confirming everyone is nursing.
Colostrum timing is the one with the least margin — the window for absorbing antibodies closes fast.
Recording It
What actually happened goes in the kidding event — labor, assistance, placenta, per-kid details — which creates the kid records and feeds the nursery.
