Stud Services
If you stand a buck for outside does, this is where the listing and the bookings live.
Where: Breeding tab → 💰 Stud Services
Listing a Buck
Create a listing against one of your bucks and set the terms. Beyond the fee, the fields that prevent misunderstandings later:
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Fee and deposit | Including whether the deposit is refundable |
| Availability and season | If you only stand him in fall, say so |
| Max bookings per month | Protects the buck and your schedule |
| Health requirements | What testing you require of visiting does — CAE, CL, Johne's |
| Guarantee | What happens if she doesn't settle |
| Registration terms | Whether kids can be registered, and on what conditions |
| Terms and notes | Everything you'd otherwise repeat in every message |
Biosecurity conversations are far easier before a doe arrives than after. Stating your testing requirements in the listing means people self-select instead of negotiating in your driveway.
A listing can be public or private, and available or unavailable, independently. That lets you take a buck off the market between seasons without deleting his listing and rebuilding it next year.
Managing Bookings
Requests arrive against your listing and move through:
inquiry → confirmed → completed
with cancelled and declined as the other outcomes. A pending count shows on the Stud Services tab so requests don't sit unanswered — in a marketplace, response time is most of your reputation.
Driveway vs. Pasture Service
Note which you offer in your terms. It changes what the buyer needs to plan for, and it changes the breeding record: a driveway breeding gives an exact date, while a doe left for a cycle produces a window rather than a single due date.
From Booking to Breeding Record
When the service happens, record it as a normal breeding so the resulting kids link to the sire properly. The booking is the commercial side; the breeding record is the herd data. Both matter, and they're not the same thing.
Stud fees can be recorded as income under 🎯 Stud Fees.
